Top 5 Bookish Habits | T5T

Hey guys, it is Tuesday and so time for a Top 5 Tuesday post πŸ˜€ If you don’t already know this meme was created by Shanah over at the Bionicbookworm, and each week we get a bookish topic to talk about. This weeks topic isΒ top 5 bookish habits. This one I am kind of taking as the best bookish habits that I have πŸ™‚ I didn’t really know how else to interpret it so I am hoping that this is what Shanah meant when she chose this topic. So let get into some of my bookish habits;

Using Bookmarks

I use bookmarks with every single book that I read and will never dog-ear my books. There are a few reasons for this the biggest one is that I want to keep my books in pristine condition, I have them all displayed beautifully so they need to stay beautiful πŸ˜€ The other reason is that I LOVE bookmarks and have a huge collection of them, I have everything from just paper bookmarks to magnetic to ones on strings and I have at least 150 at the moment πŸ˜€

Reading Everyday

This is a newer habit of mine since I was in a huge reading slump at the end of last year but over the past couple of months I make sure that I read every single day and I make time for it, usually its on my commute to work or for a hour before bed, and if I am pretty tired and can’t physically read a book then I listen to an audiobook which I am loving doing at the moment. By having some reading time everyday I find myself enjoying my books more since I am keeping myself in the story and invested in the characters.

DNFing/ Putting Down Books

This is something that I have been doing more over the years and it has really helped my reading. Sometimes I am just not in the mood to read a particular book and feel it putting me into a bit of a slump so I just put it down knowing that when I feel like reading it I will pick it back up again and I will enjoy it better later. But also if I am really not enjoying a book its okay for me to put it down and decide to not continue with it, I don’t do this very often because if I do start a book I intend to finish it but sometimes I just really do not enjoy the books and cannot see myself finishing it and putting it down to get onto something else is just a way better option.

Keeping Up With Goodreads

I use Goodreads every single day, if it’s not to update my own reading then I am just looking for some new books or just seeing what everyone else is reading. It is just so easy to scroll trough the feed and see people rating books or adding them to their want to read and it just means that I am constantly adding to my want to read shelf (it is currently at 821 books, which is super high).

Talking to my Books

This is a weird one I suppose, haha :D, but this usually happens when there is something crazy going on in the book I will just be like “what the fuck!” or when characters are being stupid or doing something that they shouldn’t, I just can’t help myself πŸ˜€

What are some of your bookish habits? πŸ˜€

Thank you for reading!

  1. This is a great list! I use Goodreads everyday too and that’s also one of my best bookish habits. It’s kinda fun to log on there everyday and poke around. And I know what you mean about DNFing books! I used to NEVER do that, but lately I’ve been trying to be better and not force myself to read books I’m not enjoying.

    Your last habit really made me chuckle – with you not at you. When I read a book the characters do become real for me and I do find myself chatting away. Perhaps we should start a support group! Ha!ha!ha!
    I hope you enjoy the rest of your week, Robyn. Here’s my Top 5 Tuesday Post
