Hey guys, I have been missing from the Top 5 Tuesday game for a while but I have really been missing doing them, I have just been super busy the past couple of months and didn’t really have the time to write them but now that I have gotten back into my blog and have a little bit of extra time on my hands I thought I would get back into it. So if you don’t already know the Top 5 Tuesday meme was created by Shanah over at the BionicBookworm, and each week we get a bookish topic to talk about. This weeks topic is top 5 books that exceeded my expectations. There are a few books that fit into this category and I am excited to talk about, so lets get into it;
Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
This book got a tonne of hype when it came out but I put off reading it for a year after it came out because I didn’t know if I would enjoy the mixed media format, turns out I absolutely loved it!!! I expected to think that it was just okay and that maybe I wouldn’t be able to get into it because of the format but it was amazing! I gave this five stars and it is still one of my all time favourite books ever and is my favourite book in the Illuminae Files series.
Artemis by Andy Weir — Review
I picked this book up kind of on a whim, I had never really read science fiction but the synopsis sounding really interesting. I was hoping to enjoy this book but I hadn’t heard much about it from anyone else but from the first page I knew I was going to love this book. It was absolutely amazing, I gave it five stars and it is one of my favourite things ever, which really solidified my love of science fiction for me 😀
An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson — Review
This book got pretty mixed reviews, mostly bad ones but the synopsis sounded really good so I still wanted to try it out and see if I would enjoy it and I am so incredibly glad I did. This book was amazing and I absolutely flew through it, the writing is beautiful and the story and characters were amazing and I love them so much. This was another five star read and another one of my all time favourites.
To Kill A Kingdom by Alexandra Christo
Before this book I had never read a little mermaid retelling and I LOVE the little mermaid, but sometimes with retellings they just disappoint you so I didn’t know what to expect going into this book. But this book was amazing, it look a story that I loved and made it so much more brutal and action packed. It kept true to the original story while adding it aspects that just complimented it so well and made it so much better. Another five star read that I loved.
It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover
I have never been into contemporaries and I picked this one up because everyone loves Colleen Hoover and I had decided to participate in contemporary-a-thon to try out the genre and this was my spur of the moment pick. This book made me feel so much, I have never cried so much in my life as I did in this book, I just felt so much for all of the characters and their stories and it is the best contemporary that I have ever read and remains by favourite in the genre.
Thank you for reading!
