Top 5 Dystopian | T5T

It is Tuesday and so time for another Top 5 Tuesday post. If you don’t already know this meme was created by Shanah over at the BionicBookWorm, and each week we get a bookish topic to talk about. This week the topic is top 5 dystopian. When I saw this topic I thought that it would be really easy to pick five books but when I was going through my read books on Goodreads I realised that I haven’t actually read that many dystopian novel so many this is a genre that I need to read more from 😀 I have picked out five books/series to talk about so lets get into it;

The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins

This is a very well loved series, I read this back in 2012 just before the movies came out so it has been a loooong time since I read them but I have watched the movies many times because they are fantastic and in my opinion the best book to movie adaptation that I have ever watched 😀 I have been meaning to re-read this series for a long time because I have forgotten a lot of the finer details from the plot but I still remember absolutely loving them, maybe I will finally get around to a re-read this year.

The Matched Series by Ally Condie

This is maybe an unpopular opinion as other people don’t seem to like these books but I really enjoyed them, especially the first book. They had a really interesting utopian world they I loved discovering more about. It was a little simplicitic but I loved the characters and that is what really made me enjoy the series.

The Divergent Trilogy by Veronica Roth

This series is very love it or hate it and if I am being honest I don’t really know what my opinion would be now. I read these books back in 2013 and back then I loved them but if I read them today I really don’t know what my opinion would be. Also the movies were terrible I only watched the first two because the last one was apparently really bad and I think it was realesed straight to DVD which is never a good sign. This may be another series that I would like to re-read in order to get my full thoughts now that I have read many more books but that would be quite a while away since I have a lot of other books that I would prefer to read.

The Giver Quartet by Lois Lowry

I have talked about these books a lot of times because I absolutely love them. I loved learning about this world and all of its intricacies and rules. All of the books follow different characters but they are all interwoven in some way which I really enjoyed and to get the full story you really have to get to the final book. The last book is actually my favourite as well because we get to learn so much about the world and all of our characters.

The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer

This is another well loved series that is a blend of science fiction, dystopian and retelling. This series follows a group of awesome characters who have some fantastic banter 😀 there is so much mystery in this series and with each new novel we get even more characters to learn about. The world was so interesting as well with both amazing scientific advancements and special abilities. There is also some graphic novels set after the events with this series and they are awesome too.

Thank you for reading!

  1. I still need to read the Lunar Chronicles graphic novels. From what I’ve heard, they’re largely Iko centric and Iko was the coolest 😍
