Top 5 Debut Novels | T5T

Hey guys, it is Tuesday and so time again for a Top 5 Tuesday topic. If you don’t already know this meme was created by Shanah over at the BionicBookWorm, and each week we get a bookish topic to talk about. This week the topic is top 5 debut novels. When I started this post I was like ‘this will be easy, I read lots of debuts’ and then I went through my Goodreads list and found that I actually have ready hardly any and I seem to not like some of the debuts that I have read, so instead I am making this into debuts that I have read and loved and some that I am excited to read. So lets get into it;

To Kill A Kingdom

To Kill A Kingdom by Alexandra Christo

This was one of my favourite books of last year and it was amazing! This is a little mermaid retelling, which has a brutal siren and a prince who is a siren hunter 😀 This is the best fantasy standalone novel that I have ever read, usually I feel like the book wasn’t long enough or didn’t give a satisfying ending but this novel was just the perfect length and the conclusion was great.

shadow and bone - owned

Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo

I absolutely loved this book when I read it earlier this year. This book has such a huge high fantasy world full of magic and political intrigue which is completely up my alley. The book was so well do and kept me engaged the whole time which is sometimes hard to do with high fantasy. I actually haven’t continued on with the series just yet but I actually plan on doing that with my next read.

Children of Blood and Bone

Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi

This was a book that came out last year and was incredibly hyped, and that is why I haven’t read it yet actually. Everyone seems to love the book which I think just sets my expectations too high so I have been letting the hype die down, so maybe I will be able to get to it soon. The other reason that I haven’t read it is because it is also a huge book as most fantasy are, but one day I will have the time to read it (fingers crossed).

Mirage by Somaiya Duad

This book also came out last year and I have a beautiful hardcover copy of it so I am really excited to get to it. This is a science fiction/ fantasy novel which seems to involve a lot of intergalactic politics which if you didn’t already know I love politics in my fantasy books. I actually haven’t heard too much about this book but I am hoping to love it.

Frostblood by Elly Blake

This is a book that I have been meaning to read for many years and I just haven’t gotten to it yet. This is a fantasy novel that involves elemental magic which is another one of my favourite things is books. I own all three books in this series so definitely need to get to it soon.

Thank you for reading!
