Hey guys, it is getting very close to the end of the year and I still have so many books that I want to read so I thought that it would be the perfect time to participate in a read-a-thon and it just so happens that there is an awesome Harry Potter themed read-a-thon happening in December. The Magical Read-A-Thon runs from the 17-26 of December and there are 12 different challenges but you only have to pick six of them that lead you from the start until the end of the read-a-thon. This read-a-thon was created by BookRoast over on YouTube and I will leave a link here to her announcement video so that you can see what all of the challenges are if you plan on participating too. So lets get into what challenges I picked and the books that I plan to read to fulfil them;
Finish Your Coursework – Finish Your Current Read
I am currently listening to the audiobook for this one and I am about a third of the way through. I am still really enjoying this series and cannot wait to see where this book goes. I do have quite a bit of travelling for work over the next couple of days so I should hopefully finish it soon.
Help Hagrid Decorate The Trees – Read A Book With Golden Details
The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert
This edition of the paperback has gold details at the top and bottom of the cover but in the US edition it is covered in gold 😀 I bought this book a couple of weeks ago now and have been dying to get to it and now I have the perfect reason to read it!! It seems like a really interesting and creepy faiytale story and I cannot wait to read it.
Visit 3 Broomsticks For Muller Pixie Wine – A Read That Should Only Take You A Day
Lucinda’s Secret by Tony DiTerlizzi & Holly Black
I love the Spiderwick Chronicles series and the other books that I read have only taken me a couple of hours to get through so I will definitely be able to get through this book in a day. I am really hoping to enjoy this book and see more of the scenes that I loved in the movie.
Attend The Yule Ball – Book You’ve Been Preparing Yourself For
Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi
This is definitely a book that I have been preparing myself for, this came out almost at the beginning of the year and I bought it pretty soon after but just have not gotten around to reading it all year, and once again that is because of the huge amount of hype that it received but now that the year is almost over I think that it is definitely time to read it now.
Bring A Festive Treat To Hedwig At The Owlery – Animals On The Cover/ Title/ Series Name
The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
This book actually fulfils all three of the options for the challenge, it has an animal on the cover, in the title and in the series name! This is another book that I have had for years but just haven’t read and this time it is because I read and didn’t like her Wolves of Mercy Falls series. Everyone seems to love these books so hopefully I will love them too.
Attend The Christmas Feast – Watch A Harry Potter Movie
For this one I don’t know which movie I will choose to watch, I will probably watch the first one and make my way through the rest after since I have been wanting to do a re-watch of the entire series for some time now.
So those are all of the books that I plan to read during the Magical Read-A-Thon. Are any of you guys planning on participating too? Let me know if you have read any of these books and what you thought of them
Thank you for reading!
