September Wrap Up

Hey guys, it is the end of the month and so time for a wrap up. I have been a terrible reviewer this month and have actually not written reviews for any of the books that I read this month! So now I really need to catch up, so hopefully I will have them up soonish. I am going to just briefly go over the books that I read as well as what rating I gave and a few sentences about each. So lets get into the wrap up;

The Bronze Key

The Bronze Key by Holly Black and Cassandra Clare

This is the third book in the Magesterium series and I gave this book five stars and really enjoyed it. I have really enjoyed this whole series, it is full of elemental magic which I love. It is a middle grade series which makes the writing more simplistic which for me just makes it easier to read.

Rat queens vol 5

Rat Queens, Volume 5: The Colossal Magic Nothing by Kurtis J. Wiebe & Owen Gieni

I have loved the Rat Queen’s series for years but it has really been going downhill since the end of volume 3 and now I have officially given up on it. I gave this volume two stars, it was just a huge mess of random story lines and parallel universes that as you are reading them, just don’t make any sense. This volume also uses a few different art styles and I didn’t enjoy most of them unfortunately.

To Kill A Kingdom

To Kill A Kingdom by Alexandra Christo

This book was fantastic and I gave it five stars!! This is the first little mermaid retelling that I have read and I really enjoyed it. I loved how Alexandra Christo kept true to the original story line but then just took it to this dark and brutal level that was so incredibly awesome to read about. I loved all of the characters and the plot just kept me wanting to read more. This is definitely one of my favourite fantasy standalones 😀

The Silver Mask.jpg

The Silver Mask by Holly Black and Cassandra Clare

This is the fourth book in the Magesterium series and I gave this one four stars. This is my least favourite of all of the books and that was mainly because I didn’t really enjoy the way the romance was done, it felt really forced, incomplete and unnecessary. The revelations that we get in this book were really exciting and the ending has me needing to know what happens next.

City of Ghosts 2

City of Ghosts by Victoria Schwab

I gave this book 4.5 stars and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This was my first Victoria Schwab book and I am so glad that I picked to read this one first, this one is a middle grade book so I don’t know if her writing is any different in her other novels but I hope not because I really enjoyed how easy this one was to read. The story line was really interesting and I loved the characters and their friendships. I will definitely be reading some more of Victoria Schwab’s books soon and hopefully loving those ones too.

Snotgirl, Volume 1: Green Hair Don’t Care by Bryan Lee O’Malley, Leslie Hung, Mickey Quinn, and Mare Odomo

I read this book for the Contemporary-A-Thon and I really didn’t enjoy it and gave it two stars. I didn’t really know what this comic was about before going into it, the main character was extremely unlikable, the plot really didn’t make much sense and you really don’t know what is real or not as you read it. The only thing that I did like about this comic was the art style which was really nice and easy to understand.

It Ends With Us

It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover

I read this book for Contemporary-A-Thon as well and I am so happy that I did. I gave this book five stars and it may be my favourite read of the year, I am so happy that I participated in the read-a-thon because if it wasn’t for that I wouldn’t have picked up this book. This is the book that has really made me feel the most for the characters, it had me in tears so many times and it has really stuck with me since I read it. I loved our main characters and seeing Lily’s backstory was one of the sweetest things ever. This is one of my favourite books that I have ever read and I feel so much love for it.

Wild Card

Wildcard by Marie Lu

This is my most anticipated read for the whole entire year! and it was just as good as I thought it would be. I gave this book five stars and enjoyed every second of it. The beginning was a little slower but the plot was so incredibly exciting, there were so many interesting revelations as we go through the book and the ending was fantastic. The story was wrapped up really nicely in these two books, even though I would love to see all of these characters again I am still happy with how they ended up.

What books did you guys read this month? Let me know if you have read any of these books and what you thought of them

Thank you for reading!
