Hey guys, I haven’t participated in the Top 5 Tuesday meme for a while because I really couldn’t come up with five books for the topics, but the topic for this week I have hundreds of books that I could pick from! If you didn’t already know the Top 5 Tuesday meme was created by Shanah over at the BionicBookWorm, and each week we get a bookish topic to talk about. This weeks topic is top 5 fantasy books!! If you don’t know by now fantasy is my favourite and most read genre. This is going to be incredibly hard to pick my top five because I have so many that I absolutely love, they are not going to be in any particular order because that would make it so much harder than it already is, haha. I will be linking my reviews that I have for some of these books if you are interested in reading them. Anyway lets get into my top five fantasy books;
To Kill A Kingdom by Alexandra Christo
This is the most recent addition to my favourite books list. I read this book a couple of weeks ago and absolutely loved it and gave it five stars. This is a little mermaid retelling that is so dark and amazing! It sticks true to the retelling aspect but makes it so much more interesting and adds another plot line which was awesome. I loved the characters, they were brutal and snarky which I thought that I wouldn’t like but I loved! I will be writing a review for this one soonish because I just need to gush about it 😀
Scythe & Thunderhead by Neal Shusterman
This series is set in a Utopian world where we have conquered death and so we have people who become scythes who ‘glean’ people for population control. I loved these books when I read them this year, there are so many twists and turns and crazy things that happen which kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. We also get into a lot of things to do with morality which was really interesting.
Ace of Shades by Amanda Foody
This is my favourite book of the entire year, I am pretty sure that nothing is going to beat it. This book is so magical and has such an amazing atmosphere to the city of New Reynes and all of the people who live there. This book has one of my favourite magic systems that I have ever read and some of my all time favourite characters. I have written quite a long review as to why I absolutely LOVE this book so if you are interested in reading my full thoughts I have linked it above 😀
The A Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J Maas
This is a very popular series that everyone seems to love. There are so many reasons that I love this series and most of them come from the characters, I love watching their interactions, their relationships, and their friendships, they just make me feel so happy inside 😀 I also really enjoy the elaborate plots that Sarah J Maas weaves into all of her books that makes them really interesting to read. I do have a few issues with this series just for the fact that some things are a bit too convenient but overall it is one of my favourite series’. I only have my review for A Court of Frost and Starlight on this blog so I will link that one if you would like to read it 🙂
The Cruel Prince by Holly Black
This is my favourite of Holly Black’s books that I have read so far and I loved it! This book is a super dark faerie story full of politics and a lot of drama which is something that I have really come to love from my books. Holly Black builds these really immersive worlds that just suck you in and keep you wanting more. I also loved all of the folk lore within this book and how we see how it all fits into the world that Holly Black created.
I realised when I was writing up my post that all of these books I read this year! I have come across some absolutely amazing books but I hadn’t realised how much I loved all of them until now. What are some of your favourite fantasy books? and let me know if you have read any of the books that I talked about and what you thought of them 😀
Thank you for reading!
