Contemporary-A-Thon TBR

Hey guys, today I am going to do my Contemporary-A-Thon TBR. If you don’t already know the Contemporary-A-Thon is a read-a-thon that goes from the 17th to the 23rd of September, where you try and read contemporary books that fit into the seven challenges. I haven’t participated in this read-a-thon before mainly because I really don’t often read contemporary books but one of my goals for the year was to read more from this genre and I haven’t actually done that so far this year so this read-a-thon is coming at the perfect time for me 😀 I usually pick a book for each challenge when it comes to read-a-thons but I am being more realistic with this one and just picking five books that cover all of the seven challenges, a lot of these books are also pretty inter-changeable when it comes to what challenges they meet so I am pretty sure that no matter what ones I get to I will see complete at least four or five challenges. I will be extremely happy if I actually get to all of these books so fingers crossed. Anyway lets get into the challenges and what books I picked to complete them;

Read A Contemporary With Orange On The Cover

Save the Date 2

Save the Date by Morgan Matson

So there are actually only two contemporary books that I own that have orange on the cover, and that’s this one and Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen and choosing between these two books was the hardest one to pick since I want to read both of these books so badly, but in the end this one won because I have yet to read any of Morgan Matson’s books and maybe by reading this one I will need to read some of her others.

Read A Dark/ Spooky Book

Snotgirl

Snotgirl, Volume 1: Green Hair Don’t Care by Bryan Lee O’Malley, Leslie Hung, Mickey Quinn, and Mare Odomo

I don’t know a whole lot about this graphic novel but my sister has read it and said that it is contemporary and that it has a dark kind of mystery to it so I am hoping that it fits the challenge pretty well. I am looking forward to reading it though because I have never read a contemporary graphic novel before and I want to see if I will actually enjoy it.

Read A Diverse Contemporary

You Know Me Well

You Know Me Well by Nina LaCour and David Levithan

This book includes both gay and lesbian relationships and is a book that a lot of people love. I am really hoping that I enjoy this book but I really don’t know very much about it. I have read Every Day by David Levithan and I really didn’t like it, but I am hoping that this one will be better since it is with another author. It is also quite small so should be good for a read-a-thon 😀

Read A Contemporary In A Non Traditional Format

Snotgirl

Snotgirl, Volume 1: Green Hair Don’t Care by Bryan Lee O’Malley, Leslie Hung, Mickey Quinn, and Mare Odomo

It was extremely hard for me to find a contemporary graphic novel, I own maybe 50+ graphic novels and none of them are contemporary. Luckily my sister has this one and I have been meaning to read it since she said that it was pretty good. I don’t know anything about this book but she has told me that it is contemporary and also has some mystery aspects so I am hoping that it is interesting.

Read A Contemporary That Has Your Initials Somewhere On The Cover

All the Bright Places

All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven

Once again it was really hard to find a book that has my initials in it. My initials are RAJ and the hardest letter to find was the J. This book came out a couple of years ago now and I was never that interested in reading it so it will be interesting to see if I like it or not. This is a much loved book and I actually bought it for my mum and she did enjoy it but her tastes are quite different to mine so we will see.

Read A Contemporary From A New To You Author

It Ends With Us

It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover

I actually wasn’t planning on reading this one for the read-a-thon because I was trying to only read the books that I own so that I finally get to some of the books that have been on my shelves for years but then I requested this book from my local library and I got it a couple of days ago and I am really excited to read it, so I just couldn’t wait and had to use it 😀 I have never read any books from Colleen Hoover before but I have heard nothing but fantastic things about all of her books and I am excited to see if I enjoy them too.

Read A Contemporary That Is A Five Star Prediction

Save the Date 2

Save the Date by Morgan Matson

This is a book that everyone seems to love and that is why I think that it will be a five star read for me. I haven’t read any of Morgan Matson’s books before but I have heard nothing but amazing things about all of them so I am really looking forward to getting to this one. This is also one of her books that sounds the most like something that I will enjoy so I have high hopes for it.

Let me know if any of you guys are planning on participating in this read-a-thon and what books you intend to read 😀 also if you have read any of these books let me know what you thought of them

Thank you for reading!
