July & August Book Haul

Hey guys 😀 for the last two months I have actually accumulated a lot of books. This is definitely my biggest book haul of the year and it is mainly due to the fact that I made my first ever BookOutlet order, I haven’t ordered from them before and that was just because the shipping to Australia is really expensive but they had hardcovers for really cheap and I just could not resist getting them. I have also picked up a bunch of other books just when I have been out shopping. I wont talk about these books too much since I have quite a few to get through, so lets get into what books I got over the last two months;

BookOutlet Haul

The Scorpion RulesThe Swan Riders

The Scorpion Rules & The Swan Riders by Erin Bow

I have been wanting to read these books for such a long time and they were never available on Bookdepository but now I finally own them!! This series just seems really interesting, I mean each ruling individual has to give up one of their children and if they start a war their child is killed! It just sounds really exciting and I cant wait to read it.

The Conspiracy of UsMap of Fates

The Conspiracy of Us & Map of Fates by Maggie Hall

This series seems like a full on action spy movie in book form! I am so excited to read this series and I just need to pick up the last book The Ends of the World so that I can have the whole series.

Shallow Graves

Shallow Graves by Kali Wallace

I had only vaguely heard of this book before buying it but the synopsis really drew me in and made me buy it. Our main character wakes up in a grave and a year has passed, she doesn’t remember what happened or who killed her but now that she is alive again she is going to find out. This seems to be a paranormal thriller and it also has some kind of cult involved and that just sounds so exciting!

Daughter of Deep Silence

Daughter of Deep Silence by Carrie Ryan

I heard about this book many years ago but never got around to picking it up. Lately I have been wanting to get into some more thriller books and this one is a full on murder revenge story. I have never read anything like this before and I cannot wait to see how I like it.

It Wasn't Always Like This

It Wasn’t Always Like This by Joy Preble

This is a book that I had heard about from bookcon years ago and it really interested me. I wasn’t able to get a copy until now but I am still pretty excited to read it. This story follows two people who have stopped again since 1916 when they took an experimental polio vaccine and now they are on the run from a religious group called the church of light who think that they are unnatural and must be killed. This book seems incredibly exciting and I cannot wait to read it finnally.

Daughter of the Pirate King

Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller

I only recently heard about this book but it has been receiving so much hype! All I know about this book is that it is fantasy and includes both pirates and sirens and that just sold me on it 😀

Other Bought Books

The Darkest Minds box set

The Darkest Minds series by Alexandra Bracken

I bought this series because of the movie adaptation that was coming out. I have read the first book now and watched the movie and will be doing some reviews soon 😀 I will hopefully be getting to the rest of the series at some point soon but my sister is currently reading it so I have to wait a while.

The Beast's Heart

The Beast’s Heart by Leife Shallcross

This is a book that I had never heart of before I saw it at the store. This is a Beauty and the Beast retelling and that was all I needed to know. I absolutely love Beauty and the Beast, it has got to be one of my favourite things in the world and I have loved every retelling that I have ever read of it so I am excited for this one.

One of us is Lying

One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus

This is a book that I had seen everyone loving lately and decided to try it out for myself. I really enjoyed this book and gave it four stars, this was my first mystery/ thriller book and now I really want to get more into this genre.

Hive

Hive by A. J. Betts

This is a book that I had never heard of but that sounded really interesting. There is only a very small synopsis for this book and it is extremely mysterious. I really want to get to this book soon just so I can find out what is going on.

Daughter of the Siren Queen

Daughter of the Siren Queen by Tricia Levenseller

This is the second and last book in the Daughter of the Pirate King duology, since I had bought the first book in hardcover I had to buy the second one in hardcover too since I am OCD and they need to match 😀 I am so happy to have both of these now so that when I start this series I can finish it straight after.

Books Received From Netgalley

Grace and Fury

Grace and Fury by Tracy Banghart

This book is set in a world where women have no rights and girls are groomed to become Graces who stand beside the king as a symbol of the perfect woman. This series seems like it is full of politics, traitors, and secrets and I am pretty excited to get to this one.

Girls of Paper and Fire

Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan

In this kingdom each year eight girls are chosen by the king to become paper girls to serve the king as his consorts, only this year nine girls are chosen one of which is Lei whose beauty has caught the eye of the king. While in training to develop the skills needed to befit a king’c consort she fall in love and now she must decide how to free herself from a fate she doesn’t want. This book seems like a epic fantasy full of drama, politics and intrigue and I am really looking forward to it.

Muse of Nightmares

Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor

This is the second book in the Strange the Dreamer duology. This series follows Lazlo Strange who since childhood has always dreamed of the mythical lost city of Weep that has been cut off from the rest of the world for over 200 years, we follow him and a group led by a man called the Godslayer as they go in search for this city and find out what awaits them there. I haven’t read the first book in this series yet but I am planning on getting to it this month so that I can read the next one. I loved Laini Taylor’s Daughter of Smoke and Bone series so I am really hoping to love this one too.

Mirage

Mirage by Somaiya Daud

In this book we follow Amani who is kidnapped by the regime and is taken back to the royal palace to act as a body double for the cruel princess Maram. This series seems full of politics and drama and I cannot wait to get to it.

The Boneless Mercies

The Boneless Mercies by April Genevieve Tucholke

This book is a standalone novel where we follow four women who are Boneless Mercies, death-traders who are hired to kill others quietly and mercifully, but they dream of bigger things of finding glory and go in search of a monster that has been slaughtering men, women and children, and they intend to kill it. This book seems full of monsters and assassins and I am really excited to get to it.

What If It's Us

What if it’s Us by Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera

This is one of the most anticipated books of the year. I haven’t read any books by Becky Albertalli or Adam Silvera but they are both incredibly well loved contemporary authors and everyone seems to really hype up all of their books. I don’t know very much about it other than that it is a contemporary romance between two guys and I cannot wait to get to it.

So we are finally at the end 😀 I got so many books over the last two months so I probably wont be getting many more for awhile. Let me know if you guys have read any of these books and what you thought of them

Thank you for reading!
