Hey guys. It is almost time for the BookTubeathon to start so I thought that I should probably put my TBR up now. So if you didn’t know the BookTubeathon starts on the 30th of July and runs until the 5th of August, this read-a-thon has seven challenges that I will go though now and tell you which book I am reading to complete each. I am hoping to complete all of the challenges this time and have chosen some much smaller books. I am really hoping that I will get to all of these in the week but we will have to see. I have also done this post in video form if you are interested in watching it I will leave a link here. So lets get onto what books I plan to read;
Let a coin toss decide your first read
The Copper Gauntlet by Holly Black and Cassandra Clare
The coin toss was between this book and Dreamland by Sarah Dessen and this one won. I have been wanting to read this book since I read The Iron Trial for the Biannual Bibliothon and it just so happens that the books in this series are pretty short so I thought that this would be a good choice. I also flew through the first book in the other read-a-thon so I am hoping to do the same for this one.
Read a book about something you want to do
Geekerella by Ashley Poston
I found this challenge pretty hard to find a book for. Most of the books that I own are fantasy and while I might want to do some of the things in them it is kind of unrealistic and they most often come with a lot of negative side effects, such as almost dying. So I decided to go with Geekerella, this book is all set around Comic Con and meeting science fiction movie stars and all things geeky and all of the things that I would love to do.
Read and watch a book to movie adaptation
The Field Guide by Holly Black and Tony DiTerlizzi
This is the first book in the Spiderwick Chronicles series, I have watched the movie before and I am pretty sure that the movie is based on all of the books in the series but I am not going to be able to read all five for one challenge so I am just reading the first one. I have loved this movie since I was a kid and I have played one of the video games about it so I am pretty hyped for the book.
Read a book with green on the cover
Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco
I have been wanting to read this book for a very long time and it just so happens that it has green on the cover so why not read it now? I am really hoping that my excitement about this book will translate into me getting through it pretty fast, this is the biggest book on my TBR but I have just been waiting so long to read it that I couldn’t help but pick it up now.
Read a book while wearing the same hat the whole time
Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire
This is another book that I have wanted to read for years and I thought that it would do especially well for this challenge because it is quite short at 169 pages. It is winter here in Melbourne so I will actually be wearing my one and only beanie, I don’t often wear hats, I actually had never even owned a beanie until I moved to Melbourne six months ago and needed one because it is freezing here. I am hoping that I will really enjoy this book since I have heard nothing but amazing things about the series.
Read a book with a beautiful spine
Hive by A. J. Betts
This is a new book for me I only picked it up last week and I had never heard of it before I saw it in the store but the cover and spire are beautiful and it sounds really intriguing, the synopsis doesn’t give you very much but it sounds like a mystery/ thriller and I am excited to see what happens.
Read seven books
The Bronze Key by Holly Black and Cassandra Clare
This is the third book in the Magisterium series and I am really hoping to get to this one although it will be the last book I read since I have to read all six others to complete this challenge of reading seven books so we will have to see how that goes. I am really looking forward to reading more books in this series, I really want to see what happens and I cant wait to find out.
Let me know if any of you guys are participating in this read-a-thon and if so what books are on your TBR 😀
Thank you for reading!
