Weekly Wrap Up 2-8 Apr

It’s the end of my reading week again and so I’m here to wrap up what books I ended up reading. This week I finally finished some books that I had been reading for awhile as well as some graphic novels that I had been dying to read. I still didn’t reach one of the reading goals that I keep setting myself every week which is quite disappointing so I have now decided that I wont pick up another physical book until I have finished that one. Anyway lets get on with the wrap up;

What I Read This Week

Jem and the Holograms, Volume 2: Viral by Kelly Thompson, Emma Vieceli, and Corin Howell

I gave this volume five stars, it is just a light fluffy read and I am really enjoying learning more about our characters and how they interact in different situations. But I am honestly more excited for the next volumes as I really believe that the first two are just leading up to some crazy sci-fi drama and I cannot wait to see what happens.

Unearthed by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner

I ended up giving this book four stars and I honesty didn’t enjoy it as much as I thought I would. The book felt kind of rushed to me, as of course our characters are rushing through their tasks but I just didn’t feel there was enough explanation and detail to what was going on. I do enjoy our main characters and I will definitely be picking up the next book when it comes out at the end of the year. I will be writing a full review of this book so if you are interested you can go and read it here.

Lumberjanes, Volume 1: Beware the Kitten Holy by Noelle Stevenson, Grace Ellis, and Faith Hicks

I wasn’t actually planning on reading this comic anytime soon but when I was at my local library last week that had volumes 1-7 on the shelf so I picked them all up instantly. I didn’t really know much about this series but I had heard good things and I have read Nimona by Noelle Stevenson so I thought I would give it a go and it was amazing. It was really funny, quirky and nonsensical but I absolutely loved it and ended up giving it five stars. It was just really fun watching them all get into trouble and finding crazy things going on in the woods and I cannot wait to read the next volumes.

What I Am Currently Reading

Scales of Empire by Kylie Chan

This is the book that I need to finish next, I have been telling myself for weeks that I need to finish the book so I can write my review (since there are quite a few things in this book that I want to talk about), but I still haven’t done it. So this week I am not picking up another physical book until I have finished this one. I have about 200 pages left so if I really dedicate some time to it then I should be able to finish it this week.

Lumberjanes, Volume 2: Friendship to the Max by Noelle Stevenson, Grace Ellis, and Shannon Watters

I am so excited to read this volume!! I am really hoping that we get to know some more about our characters and that we continue to get into crazy situations 🙂 this is really becoming one of my favourites already just because of how crazy it is and I am loving it.

Thank you for reading
